Introduction Talk on Materials, stretching paper, techniques, etc Demonstration Painting Composition Perspective, etc
Painting indoors or outside locally specific subject matter. Working from photos and sketches demo Tuition and assessment
Demonstration and group painting Painting trip to Dordogne village or town
Painting from collected material (photos, sketches…) Final painting session and advice for continuing work
Material list – David’s tips & tricks
‘Arches’ - 300 gr - Rough is my preferred, but any good quality watercolour paper that you normally use.
I normally work on half sheets or quarter sheets.
Good watercolour paint is essential (artists Quality). I like "Winsor & Newton" but again any good quality paint of your choice will do.
A watercolour pallet with good size mixing wells or separate mixing wells (these must be of good size for mixing washes).
Any brushes you have but at least one large ‘mop’ and medium and small brushes.
Masking Tape - Sketch pad - Pencils (soft leads) – Eraser.
An easel if possible and a hat for the sun!
Do not be restricted by this list. If you already have your own way of operating please feel free to bring whatever you need.
